May 2005 issue of Classic Rock Magazine "Thomas mines an often pleasing seam of gutsy melancholic Americana. The powerful "And Then The Rains Came" the wry Rock N' Roll Man, Ryan Adams-esque alt. rock of Shadows and, best of all, the Phil Spector-goes-country The Actress, Paul Ging(Classic Rock Magazine)

Run out and get a copy before they run out to read the rest. It's always a sell-out!

Review-Monday 30th September-The Michael E. Thomas Blues Band-at The Black Nun Folk Club,Edgewater Hotel,Portstewart

The band's appearance had been postponed from the week before, due to a technical hitch, but boy were they worth the wait. A crowded Black Nun rejoiced in Michael's virtuosity,& revelled in his tales from back home, of his musical encounters with some of the living legends of Blues music around New York.

Michael has played the club before, but not on his own account. Our local Blues Guitar magician, Henry McCullough, asked Michael up to jam through the second half of his last gig at the club, & what a night that was. We all new then that we just had to get Michael back to do his own night. The guys certainly didn't disappoint us either, with Michael's mesmerizing talents on Strat, & great solid cushion work from the rest of the band;Andy on bass and Greer on drums.

The last time Michael graced the stage of the club, he had done so in the company of another living legend, sadly living no more, our recent guest Tim Rose, who had invited Michael up to share the four or five numbers he treated us to that night, as an encore. Michael told of his thrill at being asked to share the stage with this wonderful musician & composer, & of his sadness upon hearing of his sudden, & recent untimely death. As a tribute to Tim, Michael sang, probably Tim's most famous song, "Hey Joe", & made a great job of it too.

We only saw Tim once at the club, but anyone who was fortunate enough to attend that night, certainly won't forget his warmth, humour, musicianship&seemingly endless musical tales. He calmly took the best part of 40 minutes to get organized for his encore, but despite it being late, nobody moved, I think we all sensed we were in the presence of someone really special. He'll be singing "Hey Joe" with Jimi now.

So thanks to Michael and His band, for a terrific night thoroughly enjoyed by one & all, convincing us, if we needed it, that Blues is here to stay, & posing the question-"Why the hell don't we have more Blues at the club?" We must get those guys back!
